Dr Zia Sheikh appointed as Academic Coordinator
We are honored to announce that Dr Zia Sheikh was recently appointed as the Academic Coordinator and Acting Dean for the English Islamic Studies Department.
Imam Zia has been a long-standing member of our faculty, teaching Arabic and Analytical Tafseer. He holds a doctorate degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation and a Masters in Arabic and Islamic Theology. Dedicated to advancing the Arabic language, Imam Zia’s extensive experience includes the production of numerous podcasts on learning Arabic and intensive tafsir of the Quran that are archived on his website http://imamzia.com/.
Based in Irving, Texas, where he is the Imam of one of the largest masajid in the area, his interests also extend to dawah and he had been at the forefront of important outreach and interfaith work in his community and beyond. He is a regular speaker at both local and national conventions and seminars. Dr Zia has also written two books: Islam Silencing the Critics, 2012 and Addressing the Taboos: Love, Marriage and Sex in Islam.
