Arabic as a Second Language I
About this course
This course is for students seeking to take their first steps into Arabic language grammar.
The course will begin covering characteristics of nouns (e.g., definiteness, gender, and number), and introduce simple phrases (e.g., adjectival and prepositional phrases) and basic sentence structure (e.g., nominal and verbal sentences). Sound verbs are also introduced, and students are expected to conjugate verbs in the past, present, and command tenses. Basics of noun patterns (e.g., active and passive participles) are also introduced. These concepts are then reinforced through Text Analysis and Listening (short supplications), and Quran Analysis (selections from the 30th Juz) modules. These lessons will continue in Arabic II (4 credit hours)
