About this course
This is an entry-level course in Jurisprudence that examines the key and contemporary issues pertaining to the acts of worship. This course focuses on Zakah, Fasting, and Hajj. The main text focuses on the opinions and evidence of the Hanbali Madhab. In addition, attention will be given to various opinions across the major Madhahib (legal schools of thought), particularly on major issues. (3 credit hours)
About the Instructor(s)
Sh Muzzammil Ahmad is an instructor in Arabic and Islamic studies. He started his studies in the United States at Bayyinah and the Qalam Seminary. After this, he went to India where he graduated from Nadwat al-Ulama (Lucknow) in 2017 and then to Egypt where he got his MA Tamhidi in Islamic legal theory (usul al-fiqh) from al-Azhar University (Cairo) in 2021. In 2022, he completed an MA in Islamic Law at SOAS, University of London, where his dissertation focused on Islamic criminal jurisprudence. He is currently pursuing a PhD at KU Leuven (Belgium) specializing in Hanbali legal thought. He has memorized the Qur’an and holds ijazat in major works across various Islamic disciplines. Alongside his academic research, he teaches at multiple institutions locally and online and remains actively engaged in scholarly research and translation projects.
